Kate Bland Nail

Kate Bland Nail, age 80, of Wilsonville, passed away after a short illness on Monday, June 1, 2026. She was preceded in death by her parents, Fred Delone Bland and Cliffie Bland Kinder (Phil); and her brother, Fred Bland. She is survived by her devoted husband of over 60 years, Charles Nail; her sister, Freida Bland; her sons, Clint Nail (Pam), Chris Nail (Jaycylyn), and Patrick Nail (Maria); her grandchildren, Wesley Nail, Rachel Nail Yim (Chi Hoi), Jaycy Nail Till (Jacob), Jake Nail, Katie Nail Mueller (Carter), and Victoria Nail; and her great-grandson, Deacon Till. Kate was born on October 23, 1945 in Birmingham, Alabama. Growing up in the Inglenook area, she attended Phillips High School. After high school, she studied as a dental assistant under Dr. Gray from UAB and worked for Dr. Paul Thomas. She also attended Jefferson State Community College where she studied Business Administration. After completion of her associates degree, she worked in sales for many years and then later in life enjoyed a position at the Palmerdale Post Office. A dedicated member of her community, Kate generously gave her time to numerous volunteer efforts, including serving as President of the Republican Women of Walker County, volunteering with Walker Baptist Medical Center and the Save-a-Life Foundation of Jasper, Alabama. Kate lived a full and vibrant life, bringing love, laughter, and kindness to all who knew her. She enjoyed sharing her talents for watercolor painting and quilting, often creating treasured gifts for family and friends. She found joy in preparing delicious meals and bringing people together. She looked forward to her annual trips to the beach, loved spending time reading and listening to music, and was a faithful member of Union Community Church in Wilsonville. Above all, Kate cherished her family and was a beloved wife, mother, and Grams. The family would like to express their heartfelt gratitude to Comfort Keepers with a special thank you to Lyric Wedge and Beverly Lee for their compassion, care, and support for Kate and her family during her illness and in her final days. We would also like to thank Expect Care and especially Megan Wysor for the nursing care given to Kate and helping the family through this difficult time. Visitation for family and friends will be held on Friday, June 5th from 11:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. at Deerfoot Memorial Funeral Home. Funeral services will immediately follow at 12:00 p.m. on Friday, June 5th with Josh Winslett officiating. She will be laid to rest at Union Community Church Cemetery in Wilsonville, Alabama.
